Which?, the British consumer watchdog magazine, has carried out an investigation into tooth whitening services offered by beauty salons. Their findings should make anybody pause who was thinking of getting that Hollywood smile next time they’re down town. Tooth whitening should only be carried out by a dentist or qualified hygienist (in the UK and Ireland the hygienist must be under the supervision of a qualified dentist) as the chemicals used in the process can permanently damage tooth enamel.
